PDF: what resolution for a great print?
Published 2026-08-12 · Education
A pixellated PDF is frustrating. The answer fits in one acronym: dpi.

What is dpi?
The dpi (dots per inch) measures the density of points in an image or a page at print time. The higher the value, the crisper the detail.
For screen or for paper?
For the screen 96 to 150 dpi is enough. For printing, 300 dpi is the reference; 600 dpi for very polished documents.
Check your PDF
Check the resolution of your images before printing. With a good export tool, choose the resolution adapted to your use (300 dpi for print).
